The art gallery at Kitengela Glass.
A veritable treasure trove of Kitengelia, contemporary African art & sculpture.
Painted with instinct, generosity & velocity.
Her canvases move between landscape and abstraction, often in a single breath, dissolving the boundary between what she sees and what she feels. Colour leads the way, unruly, joyful, sometimes chaotic, always alive.
Whether she’s distilling a coastline, a garden in full bloom, or the interior pulse of memory, Collis paints in layers of gesture that accumulate into atmosphere. What emerges is not a place as it looks, but a place as it lives: shifting, glowing, vibrating at the edge of recognition.
This selection brings together her landscapes, florals and abstract works, unified by their immediacy, their light, and her unmistakable rhythm of mark-making. Each canvas is a moment caught mid-movement, a glimpse of the world as Collis translates it: loose, luminous, and full of life.
Mary and Anselm have collaborated several times in the past, both in individual shows and via several of the BushGlass workshops.
With the rest of the gallery offerings rooted in the early ‘Bushglass’ tradition, it now features rare works by visiting artists like Emil Kováč, Ondrej Novotny, Marek Bartko, Christian Maas, and Tums Yeshim, alongside collaborative creations and other sculptural results of Anselm’s workshops.
Expect the unexpected — each piece is a conversation.
