From the ruins of human folly springs a forest of hope.
We built a waterfall out of recycled glass.
Shards of human detritus, melted, pulled, cast, cut & set by hand in a unique mortar of vitreous sand - catching the sun like reflections off bubbles in cascading water.
The drum this piece screens contains the display of the waterfall that the Gombe chimps used to ‘worship’ at - Jane said they would make pilgrimages to nit and remain in blissed out transcendence for long periods.
This is part of our tribute to Jane Goodall’s years in Gombe - her decades among the chimps, her fight for the forests, her quiet unstoppable grit, her reminder that hope is action and renewal is possible.
